Dirk von Zitzewitz bei Rallye schwer verletzt

Dirk von Zitzewitz, der 2012 und 13 zusammen mit Giniel de Villiers im Toyota Hilux den 3. und 2. Platz bei der Dakar belegte, ist am Wochenende bei einer Rallye ziemlich böse mit seinem Side-by-Side verunglückt und wurde dabei schwer verletzt. Sein Statement auf Facebook:

what can I say... I think I’m one of the most luckiest person on earth! Maybe someone was looking after me and holding his hand over me?! ...I got airlifted to a hospital near Budapest. A good hospital with good doctors and nurses! They did x-rays and ct scans of my body. Result: left color bone, 3 bones in left hand, 7 rips and, that’s the bad stuff: several vertebras broken!
The first one of the neck (atlas) and second one, the third of the chest were badly damaged! LUCKILY I could/can feel all my body and move my legs!!! It was such a close call!!! I’m so grateful and so happy like you can not believe! I don’t know how to put that in words but I appreciate so much the luck of a second chance!
